Among all the applications received in the 3rd edition of the IN3+ Award, the largest award dedicated to innovation in Portugal, 5 security ideas and solutions were selected that stand out for their innovative approach to such central themes as nanotechnology, blockchain, and biometrics.
Opening new possibilities for the future, the projects HIGHLIGHT, AlCeBlock, offline payments system based on blockchain, MOBA and IDINA are the five finalist ideas among 87 applications from more than 30 entities, including universities, research centers, companies and startups, from north to south of the country, including, for the first time, international participation.
HIGHLIGHT, an idea from Prof. Manuel J. Mendes' Nano-Photonics team, aims to develop a paint composed of nanoparticles that allow the manipulation of light, giving the unique possibility of optical variation visible or invisible to the human eye. According to the creators, this product may be very useful to the anti-counterfeiting market, for example to apply in all kinds of documents and security seals.
