It was with immense regret that we became aware of the death of Professor Fernando Santana, a unique figure, a man of extraordinary skills, generous, visionary, full of enthusiasm and humanism, to whom he combined all this with his affability, human warmth, unlimited goodwill and generosity. willingness to listen to colleagues and promote FCT-UNL to the limits of what I classed as excellence: full integration between the way of educating and investigating, exploring the limits of knowledge and proposing to train Nova's graduates and masters, with unique ideas, outside the box, such as the creation of the FCT Profile, which distinguishes us from all other Schools.
To this great Portuguese, who deserved the most distinct awards, at regional and national level, who always knew how to represent us in all the Areopagus where the scientific and technological policy of this country was discussed, in addition to his deep commitment to connect the University with technology / industry, as a facilitator and generator of knowledge and technology, capable of meeting the challenges of our society for the future, which presented us at each meeting with good humor, words of encouragement and a lot of human warmth, which we simply bow to.
May we know how to honor his name and honor his work, continuing his thinking.
